One winter evening several years ago when I dashed out of our back door to throw several items into the trash barrel, I slipped on a patch of ice by the door and was thrown violently on my back, and my head hit the concrete doorstep. Not knowing for a moment what had happened, but realizing I needed help, I yelled, "God is my Life." Fortunately my husband, and not the whole neighborhood, heard me! He came to my rescue and got me inside, out of the cold.
Sitting on the davenport, I was able to call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. When there seemed to be a reaction from the fall, including profuse bleeding, I again contacted the practitioner to notify her of this. One verse from the Bible that came to my thought was from Psalms: "In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me" (56:4). The bleeding staunched very shortly, and my gratitude for this immediate help was great.
