While on a business trip, my travel agent and I were standing in the marketplace of a country far from my home when I was robbed. One person distracted us for a few seconds by shouting, and a second person whisked away my suitcase from the pavement at my feet. That suitcase contained my passport, a video camera, a 35-mm camera, custom-made sunglasses, a digital watch, and $800 in cash.
I immediately tried to know that God's man must be honest. I held to this thought continually in trying to deal with this situation and to overcome great feelings of self-pity and self-recrimination for having tempted another to be dishonest through my careless actions.
Although I had never been robbed before, I had had many instances in which prayer led to the recovery of lost items. These instances came to mind now, and helped me to realize that the same spiritual truths I had prayed with could help me again.
