Latrisha's choice
Latrisha was mad. She felt like water in a pot on the stove when it bubbled. Latrisha felt like hitting her sister, Mirella (Ella, for short), because of something she had said. The mad feeling just bubbled and bubbled until Latrisha took her book and threw it hard down the stairs. Ella and Latrisha watched it hit a stair, bounce, and land.
"You are in trouble now!" Ella said. "You wrecked the book you borrowed from Mrs. Ray!" Latrisha could see, even from the top of the stairs, that one corner of the book was crumpled where it had hit the stair.
"Is everything all right, girls?" asked the baby sitter from upstairs. "Yes," said both girls at the same time, but they knew it was not.
