The Bay of Kotor ferry
Christlike compassion moves us to see and demonstrate more of God's unlimited goodness.
The Bay of Kotor lies in the deep south of what was formerly Yugoslavia, close to the border with Albania. The bay is large and the road around the bay takes time. So a ferry eliminates this long route by crossing at the narrow mouth.
Our coach was returning from a day trip to the very poor south. The highlight was the beautiful village on the island of Sveti Stefan just off the coast. Now, our coach came to a halt. We awaited the arrival of the ferry.
Immediately, a poorly dressed peasant woman met the coach and attempted to sell her wares. She was not doing very well as only one window opened on this air-conditioned coach. So her market was limited. I was the only passenger to alight. She showed me her wares: lovely carved bowls and other beautiful objects crafted out of wood by her skilled husband.
