The truth about attraction
The pull of sinful temptation is broken by a spiritual view of creation.
Flying home from my ten-year high-school reunion was one of the most self-searching times of my life. Within the previous three years I had joined a Christian Science branch church and then The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Yet here I was on a plane home, suffering from the after-effects of a weekend of behavior not in accord with the Ten Commandments and the standards of Christian Science. Those standards just seemed to have disappeared over the weekend. The shame and guilt I felt were almost more than I could bear. However, I had learned in my study of Science that these negative feelings could be overcome, and true healing from false attractions and temptations could be achieved. But where to begin?
I had been learning about the true nature of God and His creation, a nature that is wholly spiritual and has no connection at all with what the material senses perceive. All the so-called material laws that we take as concrete realities, from gravitational laws to theories that suppose humans to be at the mercy of independently acting physical bodies, are shown to be based on a mistaken sense of creation.
