The Christly way to mental peace
If you are battling despair or a lack of fulfillment, hope and help are at hand.
Anyone facing serious problems has the right to find solace and more fulfillment in life. And every individual surely deserves to be released from the bondage of mental illness. The spiritual healing of true Christianity, as Christ Jesus taught and practiced, reaches all human disorders, mental as well as physical.
Jesus healed every type of ill, including grief, guilt, and despair. And he did this quickly and completely. He didn't regard any human condition as beyond the reach of God's immediate healing love. For example, one time Jesus met a man plagued with mental problems bordering on self-destructiveness (see Mark 5:1–15). The man ran to Jesus and, as the Bible says, worshiped him. But then the man frantically cried out against Jesus. To me, it seems as though the man was resisting the very help he needed, perhaps because he saw himself as unhealable and unworthy. Jesus did not accept such a tragic view; he healed the man. Those who came to see what happened found the man restored to soundness of mind.
