A protest that works

We can be spiritual activists—with healing results!

People instinctively protest against injustice and oppression. Our protests may be very private—a letter to a legislator or even an exclamation of outrage during the evening news. Or they may be public and arouse widespread support, such as rallies or marches. Whatever form they take, we hope our protests will in some way contribute to change for the better.

We may not generally think of protesting about our health, but this form of protest is very useful when it is based on the spiritual understanding of God's omnipotence and of the reality of His loving care for each and every one of us. God is all-encompassing, all-powerful Love. The protecting and uplifting power of His love is always available to us. The remarkable healings performed by Christ Jesus demonstrate this fact and show that sickness is never God's will.

When confronted with illness or injury, the Master restored the body to the normal conditions of health and harmony. And he said, "I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me" (John 5:30). The Master showed us that we have a right to protest against sickness and all the pain and sorrow that go with it because they are not in accord with "the will of the Father."
