Over nine years ago two doctors, one of them a specialist, diagnosed a large tumor behind my uterus. Both said a complete hysterectomy would be necessary. This condition was healed entirely through the application of Christian Science alone. The healing did not come about immediately; however, along the way I learned many lessons and noticed a major attitude adjustment taking place.
First, fear had to be ruled out of thought. Mary Baker Eddy explains in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures that fear is often the basis of human suffering, and that healing lies in acknowledging God's omnipotence and complete, unchanging love for all His children.
In the Bible we find these words: "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (II Tim. 1:7). Our Saviour, Christ Jesus, bore witness to God's love for man as he healed sickness and sin. As part of his mission he taught his disciples how to do the same. Mrs. Eddy observes in Unity of Good, "He demanded a change of consciousness and evidence, and effected this change through the higher laws of God" (p. 11).
