"Diviner" relationships
The other day I was realizing how much easier it can seem to give money to an individual, charity, or cause that we are not even familiar with than to be "spiritually generous" with those we know well but who for some reason have fallen out of our good graces.
How can we be more obedient to Christ Jesus' command to "love thy neighbour as thyself" (Matt. 22:39)—especially when we're feeling hurt, angry, or resentful?
At such times we may tempted to get even or set the other fellow straight. Even worse, perhaps, we might just decide to ignore the person or terminate the relationship! But when hurt surfaces in thought, we can refuse to let it trigger anger and resentment and instead strive to replace condemnation with mercy, compassion, and, yes, spiritual generosity.
