Family ties that bind and heal
Family harmony is natural, and it grows through a deepening perception of the relationship we all have to the one Father-Mother God.
I Recently heard a commentary by a psychiatrist who said that most people come from dysfunctional families. Although I find the statement somewhat sweeping, I do agree that family relationships can generate disappointments and, in certain instances, deep-seated resentments and hurt feelings. In spite of this, there are many who would testify to strong affections and wonderfully rewarding relationships within the family.
How can we translate our dearest hopes about family into practical reality?
When family members put love for God at the center of their affections, their relationships take on a healing tone. They express the harmony that results when we yield to God's government and acknowledge Him as our creator, our Father-Mother. Becoming conscious of our common heritage as spiritual offspring of the one divine Parent, who is Spirit and Love, we can begin to feel a spiritual unity with one another that transcends the fragile, materialistic sense of family ties.
