They began with the special issue Sentinels for the 1990 Youth Meetings and expanded to include the spring 1991 special issue, "Humanity's quest for health." They draw on new as well as reprinted articles from the Christian Science magazines. There are four more on the way: a special issue Sentinel will become available this month. Soon to follow will be a special issue of The Christian Science Journal, as well as two more special issue Sentinels planned for late this year and early next year.
The theme of the Journal is "Christian Scientists and the practice of spiritual healing." The theme is taken from a message from The Christian Science Board of Directors written specifically for this issue. The issue also draws together articles on Christian Science healing originally published as early as 1909 as well as articles newly published in this special issue. The workshop in this Journal is entitled "Evidence of Christian Healing," and there's a section designed to introduce the record of Christian Science healing to newcomers. The issue serves as a rallying point for anyone interested in healing through prayer.
The next special issue Sentinel focuses on healing drug abuse. It's called "We can win out over drug abuse with God's help." The issue includes a new article and a new "Second Thought," as well as a number of previously published articles covering both the healing of individual drug addiction and community drug-related challenges. The issue is not so much about a war on drugs as it is about restoration and healing. Neighbors, school officials, as well as families, should find this issue an important tool in their work to gain freedom from the tyranny of drugs.
