God and Jake and me
He appeared out of the bushes on the side of the road—a very skinny young dog. He was tan with a white chest, floppy ears, and the sweetest dark brown eyes. He had no collar and acted frightened and seemed to have nowhere to go. When I returned to the spot with some food, he gobbled it up. From that day on, Jake Moses Robb was a part of our family.
Jake grew to be a big dog that loved to go jogging with my husband and me. He liked to roam the hills around our house. Later on we added Sophie, a completely white dog a little smaller than Jake. They loved to play together and to romp in the weeds, and we were very happy with our dogs.
Some years later, one evening, Jake passed on. At first it was hard to believe that it had happened. The whole next day I cried a lot. But I knew that being sad didn't help. So I began to pray.
