One day a breathing difficulty developed and I became afraid
One day a breathing difficulty developed and I became afraid. I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. Her firm stand for spiritual truth quickly dispelled the fear, and in a day or so my breathing became normal.
At another time I found myself in great pain and barely able to rise from bed. One leg and hip seemed especially affected. Again I had prayerful help from a practitioner for a short time. I also saw the need for more consecrated work and prayer on my part.
By knowing that my business was being about God's business, using a walking stick I was able to carry out all necessary duties for my branch church and for myself. I live alone in a flat up forty-five steps, near the branch church. The steps gave me an opportunity to pray. Through prayer I refuted the suggestions that the condition was permanent and would get worse. I held continually to the truth of my real nature as a spiritual idea, a perfect child of God.
