Armor and character
Many years ago a writer in the Methodist Review described what he had witnessed in this new religion called Christian Science.
Speaking about the system of study and spiritual healing discovered by Mary Baker Eddy, he wrote of students in Christian Science, "... her insistence upon the constant daily reading of the Bible and her own writings, ... has given ... a means of spiritual development which ... will certainly build such truth as they do gain into the marrow of their characters." Quoted in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 48.
Development of character describes well the effect of Christian Science. When something becomes a part of our character, it doesn't come and go. It's not simply something we may choose or not choose to do.
