It was during the year 1954, when I was making a business call, that a woman offered to lend me a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

I was the father of four children and had been wanting them to go to Sunday School to learn about God. I thought I should set them an example and attend church myself but had not found a church I wanted to attend.

It will always be a cause for gratitude that this woman offered me the loan of Science and Health and that I had the good sense to accept her offer and read the book, because I was progressively to find it truly to be a key to the Scriptures. I became an avid reader of all Christian Science publications, enrolled my children in a Christian Science Sunday School, and soon experienced my first healing.
