It wasn't until I was in my late twenties that I heard of Christian Science, which was introduced to me by a relative who had been helped by Science at a time of great need.
I, too, was in dire need of help. I seemed to be lost in the wilderness Mrs. Eddy describes in Science and Health in part as "loneliness; doubt; darkness." I had sought out psychiatric help.
As I began studying the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, my condition improved. The learning process was slow—no quick jump into heaven—and there were many days of fear and depression. But I knew the key to my salvation was in the Bible and Science and Health, which I turned to continually.
