"Black Students Forgive Teacher's Mistaken Slur"
"A racial slur uttered by [a school librarian] to her black students threatened to end her 27-year career in education until black students stepped in and saved her job.
"'We were ready to forgive and go on,' said a 17-year-old senior, ... one of six students who initiated, typed and distributed petitions in support of [the] librarian who is white. 'Anybody ought to get a second chance.'
