My introduction to Christian Science came when I picked up...
My introduction to Christian Science came when I picked up an issue of The Christian Science Monitor. (My husband had just subscribed to the paper.) I was new to this country then and had never heard of Christian Science before. The title of the newspaper intrigued me, mainly because I had never thought of Christianity as Science.
I went to the local Christian Science Reading Room for more information, and the librarian was very helpful. I wanted to know more about the Discoverer of this Science, so I took home a biography of Mrs. Eddy.
The next step was to visit the local branch church. The very first thing I remember seeing was these words on the wall: "God is love" (I John 4:8) and Christ Jesus' words "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). That little church fulfilled all my expectations as to what a church should be—simple and true. Filled with gratitude, I knew I had finally come home.
