I am extremely grateful for the spiritual truths of Christian Science, for they bring healing. As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I've been accustomed to relying on the wisdom, love, and power of God to resolve problems.

One afternoon I decided to clear out some brush along a fence in my backyard. The overgrowth turned out to include a considerable amount of poison ivy, and before long the evidence of poisoning was quite alarming: my eyes were swollen almost shut and blisters covered most of my body.

I wanted to be healed spiritually, so I turned to the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and began to study that week's Bible Lesson (outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly). After I had studied over a period of days, however, I began to feel disheartened. I realized that lately I had not been consistently applying my understanding of Christian Science and I felt "out of practice" when it came to praying for healing of physical difficulties. Nevertheless, I found inspiration in the testimonies of healings of every sort of physical trouble that appear in the Christian Science periodicals as well as in Science and Health. Also of particular comfort was A Century of Christian Science Healing, a book that relates many healings that took place during the first hundred years of Christian Science. The fear and concern in my thought were dispelled, with the prayerful support of a Christian Science practitioner, and I returned to the weekly lesson.
