Excerpts from a sermon by Dr. David H. C. Read, Minister,—Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, June 28, 1987:

"'... and there are many in this city who are my people.' Acts 18:10 (NEB)

"However this vision [see Acts 18:5–11] came to Paul it was just what he needed that night in the city of Corinth. He was depressed and discouraged. He had been on the road in Greece for some months and it had been rough going.

"Almost any Christian can go through times like this when the cause of Christ seems weak and helpless, when there seem to be no allies in the struggle to keep the Christian faith and live the Christian life.
