I wish to acknowledge my tremendous gratitude for Christian Science and the care it provided for our two children. In infancy my daughter was healed of whooping cough. And as a preadolescent my son was healed of tuberculosis of the bone.

When she was about one and a half years old, our daughter had a fever and went into convulsions one morning. My husband was not a student of this Science when the children were young. He called a doctor, who took certain physical measures to bring her temperature down but said that her experience was not unusual for youngsters.

Several weeks later, our daughter became feverish again. I called a Christian Science practitioner and told her that I was very afraid our daughter would go into convulsions again. I have never forgotten the sound of the practitioner's voice as she tenderly and firmly declared, "Then we'll have to know that God never gave you the spirit of fear!" She was referring to the Biblical verse (II Tim. 1:7): "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." I became calm, and the child was soon sleeping peacefully, the fever gone. And she never again experienced convulsions.
