Advance!
An intrepid World War I commander, General Foch sent this message to Marshal Joffre: "My right has been rolled up; my left has been driven back; my centre has been smashed. I have ordered an advance from all directions."
In the human pilgrimage there may be setbacks. But, relying on Christian Science, we don't have to be daunted. Consciousness enlightened by Science cannot retrogress. When we understand Truth more clearly, we progress, and our spiritual conviction does not vacillate. We can only go firmly forward in demonstrating the allness of God as perfect Spirit, and the perfection of man as God's spiritual idea.
The Psalmist cried: "For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." Ps. 75:6, 7. Turning to God, divine Principle, we put down false beliefs and establish the truth. Promotion does not really come from patrons or places. In its deepest sense, promotion is the effect of divine Principle's righteous judgment.
