Years ago my husband left me with five small children

Years ago my husband left me with five small children. His business was heavily in debt, and our personal debts were stagering also. These problems, coupled with the responsibility of a large family, seemed to overwhelm him.

Since I was unable to pay the rent for the house we were living in, we were asked to leave. At the time I barely had enough money to feed my family. Words can't describe the fear and hurt that engulfed me. I had received Christian Science class instruction about four years earlier, and I knew that I could turn to God and always find an answer.

I found a small apartment that needed a lot of care, but nevertheless I was happy to find it. The first night there was almost unbearable. I cried and prayed desperately, and I kept thinking of Christ Jesus' prayer before his crucifixion (Matt. 26:39), "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Finally, at about four in the morning, I found my peace. I didn't know what I would do for food or money the next day, but when that sense of peace came over me, I was sure there would be an answer to these needs.
