Life expectancy: eternity
Daniel, in the lions' den, greeted King Darius with the ancient benediction, "O king, live for ever." Dan. 6:21; It's a good idea to daily bestow this salutation on oneself, for God has commanded that man, the royal reflection of the eternal God, must live forever. Death is neither possible to nor experienced by divine Mind or its reflection. Anyone who understands the God-given dominion this truth confers will be increasingly free of the fear that his life could ever stop.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes: "Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 246; And Jesus, the foremost demonstrator of dominion over the belief of death, said, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3;
What a complete turnabout from the world's conviction that life is temporal! Instead of our trying to cram as much accomplishment as possible into a short span of years, we are being assured with highest Christian authority that spiritual life, reality, is going on right now and is going to go on forever. Accepting this transforms one's whole approach to existence.
