In 1966 my right arm and leg were suddenly useless. These words came forcibly to mind: "God heals." They were the subject of a metaphysical article in The Christian Science Monitor, and the only words I could immediately grasp. Later there was pain. But this error was promptly denied, and with acceptance of spiritual truths of man's God-given freedom and wholeness, the pain disappeared.
When there was a need to use a steel walker while learning to walk again, Hymn No. 96 in the Christian Science Hymnal was constantly pondered. The hymn includes these words:
