Lifted above poverty

Faring well

The poverty level is considered to be an income level below which the average family cannot exist in reasonable health and comfort. This is an economic description. But there is another poverty level to be considered, even more important and demanding of our attention—poverty of thought.

The level of thought that has not yet risen to see God as Father-Mother, or refuses to do so, needs raising. God cares for His creation, watches over it, and loves the family of man. Spiritual riches far surpass our monetary income and are essential if we are to express outgoing Christly love. This is the message of Christian Science.

Consider the outgo of Peter when he and John, about to enter the temple at Jerusalem, were asked for alms by a man who'd been born lame. "Silver and gold," Peter said, "have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." Acts 3:6; Peter then lifted the man up, and the man became strong and walked!
