Persist until healed
History is full of examples of individuals who surmounted "insurmountable" obstacles through courage and persistence. Demosthenes overcame a speech defect to become a great orator. After the loss of his hearing, Beethoven went on to compose some of his greatest music.
This quality of persistence is essential in the study and demonstration of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, emphasizes this need in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "By lifting thought above error, or disease, and contending persistently for truth, you destroy error." Science and Health, p. 400;
Obedience to this directive calls for continuing courage and spiritual vision in the face of the often formidable evidence of the material senses. But think of the reward—the destruction of error!
