An injury I suffered as a little girl left me with...
An injury I suffered as a little girl left me with rigid ankle muscles and a carious bone in my left thigh. Four operations failed to correct these conditions. When I was a teen-ager, the doctors wanted to operate again, but I rebelled at the thought of undergoing surgery a fifth time. Instead, I turned to Christian Science for healing. Later, when a younger sister was in urgent need of help, both my parents became interested in this scientific method of the Christ-cure.
As a new student of Science, I made occasional visits to a Christian Science practitioner. This is the very first reference that the practitioner gave me to study (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 162): "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness."
With the prayer of the practitioner and my own study, the rigid muscles of my ankle gave way to complete freedom of movement, and the carious bone of my left leg was restored to wholeness. I thank God for these beautiful instances of healing through mental surgery.
