As a young woman I developed a small lump on my back
As a young woman I developed a small lump on my back. The growth enlarged until finally it was noticeable to others. All the clothing I bought had to have a high back. Saleswomen often commented on the condition, so it came to a point where I preferred to help myself while shopping.
I realized the need to pray specifically and to turn from the material evidence, which I was often tempted to observe. On page 261 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy urges, "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." I endeavored to do just this. From time to time I asked for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. Each year after my Christian Science students' association meeting, I felt especially inspired, and afterward I would pray earnestly for myself.
