Man is the idea of God—inseparable from the Father-Mother
Man is the idea of God—inseparable from the Father-Mother. Recently, while visiting my sister in another state, it was this powerful truth that stood out to me as I studied the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly for that week. The subject of the lesson was "Soul and Body," and it was clear to me that since my true identity is spiritual and reflects God, who is Love, I could only be loving and see love expressed everywhere.
One morning my sister and I were on our way to meet friends for lunch. As we drove up a narrow street a car passed us at very high speed, pulled in front of our car, and maneuvered so that the vehicle blocked the street. Just then another car passed us at high speed and stopped short of the first one. The doors of both cars opened and about twelve teen-age boys got out, each with a weapon in his hand. It appeared as if they intended to fight one another.
My thought was filled right away with an awareness of Love's presence, and I knew that each one of them was in reality the loving idea of God. God's ideas cannot harm each other, nor do they want to. I was so lifted mentally by these thoughts that to me, at that moment, the only reality was God's allness and goodness and power.
