A bright promise for the 'eighties
When New Year's Day points to the beginning of a new decade or a new century, we are challenged to stretch our vision further than usual. We may wonder, How far have we come and how far will we progress in not only one but in ten or a hundred years?
In January 1900, Mary Baker Eddy gave to her followers and the world a message in the form of a poem. Entitled "Satisfied," this poem, now set to music, inspires congregations of the Church of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world whenever they sing it as a hymn during church services. Replete with messages of the power of divine Love to deliver us from fear, the vagaries of human fortune, hate, and tyranny, this poem ends:
