I have always enjoyed participating in sports, and a healing I had in tenth grade helped me enjoy sports even more. Through it I learned that God's law is always in operation and governs man.

One Saturday I was playing touch football. My father threw a pass, and I ran to catch it. But I collided with a friend who, as a starting member of the varsity high school team, was bigger than I. After we picked ourselves up, I found I couldn't move my arm.

All of us in the game went to the Christian Science Sunday School, and my father was a Sunday School teacher. This meant there was no curious examination or talk about my arm; rather, we all turned our attention to God. I had learned in Sunday School that God is Mind and that we are divine Mind's spiritual ideas, or God's children. I knew that as a child of the loving parent Mind, my health and security are always provided for.
