Listening for God

Dorothea T. Leamy

My tongue says, "I can't!"
I just sit there and cry.
My voice yells, "I won't!"
Mother pleads, "Do try!"

Then we both listen for God
To tell us what is true.
Arguing won't heal me,
But God's thoughts always do.
