What a wonderful blessing to have a glimpse of the truth Christian Science teaches! Some years before I began its study I often wondered if there were not a better explanation of life than I had learned. I thought, Surely someday we will discover the truth about everything. Little did I know that Christ Jesus' prayer had been answered (John 14: 16), "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter," and that the Comforter, which he said "shall teach you all things" (v. 26), had been revealed by God in divine Science. How grateful I am for the purity, vision, devotion, and perseverance expressed by Mrs. Eddy, which enabled her to discover the law of God, Christian Science.

Over twenty years ago, because of disappointments and frustrations and with a deep desire to become acquainted with God, I began an earnest search for a satisfying answer in religion. I telephoned a Christian Science Reading Room one day, asking to be sent some literature. I was deeply impressed by what I received, especially the testimonies of healing in a Sentinel.

Soon afterward I purchased a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Understanding little I read, and desiring to know the fuller meaning of the words, I purchased a dictionary the same day. This was the start of my becoming acquainted with God.

Since then I have earnestly studied the Bible and Science and Health and have been greatly blessed. Immediately I was healed of the smoking habit and the desire for social drinking. As a natural result of my trusting our children to God, they grew up quite free from so-called childhood diseases and problems.

Once when I had symptoms of flu, some of the other family members were showing signs of the same difficulty. As I prayerfully studied the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly for that week on the subject "Man," I endeavored to grasp fully the truths given in the lesson, also claiming for my family their exemption from evil. By the time the study was finished, not only I but our whole family was free of illness. I am very grateful for this healing and for many others.

I am especially grateful for an improved sense of order in my home and affairs, for greater patience, replacing a tendency to be always in a hurry, and for increased gentleness and growth away from a self-willed nature.

Concerning physical healings Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 150), "Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,—to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world."

I thank God for the opportunity of helping overcome the sins of the world by overcoming them in myself.
