The Answer Is...

Those three words generally call for something else to be added. Allowed to stand alone, they take on a different significance: the answer exists. This statement can lead to important metaphysical truths—truths that result in healing, through our better understanding of Christian Science.

The completeness and perfection of God's creation are at the very core of this Science. One doesn't have to look farther than the first chapter of Genesis to find support for this assurance. There we find God stating His intention to create man in His own image and following through by doing just that: "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."^{Gen. 1:26, 27;} Pursuing the study of the Bible beyond its first chapter, one finds many instances of protection and healing accomplished by prophet and apostle and epitomized in the works of Christ Jesus. The visible result of these spiritual seers' understanding of God was restoration of health and even of life.

We learn in Christian Science that what appears as the restoring of harmonious bodily conditions does not come through a process of changing diseased matter (either quickly or over an extended period of time) into healthy matter. To the material senses this may appear to be what has taken place when healing results. But what has actually taken place is that man's eternal perfection as the child of a perfect God has been discerned through spiritual sense, through the recognition that God's universe, including man, has always existed at the point of perfection.
