Rousing the Patient
Prayer is customarily a very gentle, very quiet and uplifting experience, free of emphasis on the material body. Effective treatment through prayer grows out of a deepened understanding of man's pure spirituality and his relationship to God, Soul. An expanding awareness of God as the one infinite, ever-present Soul has major implications in Christian Science treatment.
To be close to Soul is to be consciously at peace. Stillness and quietness are concomitant with Soul's allness. Within such a mental atmosphere the recognition of reality comes naturally to thought, and the effect is healing. Discord is essentially the clamor of material sense. Thus the stillness of Soul inevitably heals.
Because Soul imparts the realization of heaven itself, perfect harmony begins to dawn upon that life which is awakening to Soul. We can begin to feel a full sense of assurance. A tranquil and poised response to God. A composed trust in His goodness.
