One healing I had stands as a landmark in my growth in understanding Christian Science. My family and I were on vacation, and I suddenly developed symptoms of a severe cold. This was not only disturbing to me but disappointing to my family, as we had planned activities that would have to be curtailed if I could not be with them.

Though I was a fairly new student of Christian Science, I had nevertheless recently had the inspiration of Christian Science class instruction. I was confident that the cold could be healed immediately by Christian Science treatment.

Determined not to allow this malady to interfere with our activities, I drove my family to their outing. Leaving them there after arranging to meet them later, I then went to the nearest Christian Science Reading Room. I spent the next several hours there studying the Bible Lesson and reading other Science literature. Then I gave myself a thorough treatment. The method of treatment in Christian Science is clearly set forth in the chapter "Christian Science Practice" in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy.
