CLIMBING

Dear Father, may I learn
To make each stone a stair—
Each stopping place a stepping place,
A place for climbing there.
I must not sit dismayed
And make each stone a chair.
In every test that comes
This always is my prayer:
Dear Father, may I ever
Make each stone a stair.
