The writings of Mrs. Eddy are a constant source of guidance and strength for me. They have been the basis for healing on many occasions.

My first healings in Christian Science were of headaches, colds, social drinking, hay fever, and smoking. In the case of the latter, one day I discovered I had not smoked a cigarette all day and the desire to smoke had vanished. Fear of driving has left as it has been shown to me that God is the only cause, in control of every effect, and this insures us against accident; love of one's neighbor can be seen as the universal law of the road, always in force. Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 113), "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." It has been a joy to learn that even the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal are healing prayers.

Our children have for the most part been free from accident and so-called children's diseases. When sickness did appear, it was mild, and was healed when fear was given up. On one occasion when our little boy was feverish and ill, his body cooled instantly after I had turned to God, realizing that He filled all space with His perfection and there was no other mind to express imperfection.
