Healing in Christian Science comes from the purification of our thoughts, which is the result of spiritual understanding through the study of the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and also from daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. I had the joy of experiencing healings as soon as I began to study and to attend a branch of The Mother Church in Buenos Aires. From my childhood I had always trusted in God's protection —I turned to Him all the time. I found this trust more than rewarded in the understanding the study of Christian Science gives, which is palpable and real.

When I was a very little girl, there were raids by bandits in the area where I lived, and on two occasions I was saved from their hands. Then when I reached adolescence, physical difficulties I experienced were so alarming I had to have medical treatment. But there were no positive results, and instead everything got worse. I was suffering from a throat infection that required an operation. Palpitations of the heart made normal rest difficult, and certain foods were denied me because of digestive troubles. In addition, painful rheumatism forced me to stay in bed without moving a part of the time. But I always trusted in God.

When I was in that condition, I met a woman who was studying Christian Science. She took me with another friend to a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, she was attending. When the Reader read from the Bible, I heard words that I had known since I was a little girl, and I understood that it was a message for me. I realized that it was what I was looking for, a light I could never be separated from. I began to read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. The result was wonderful. Soon my anxiety disappeared and I had the joy of seeing the past suffering disappear like a dream—all the physical disorders were healed.
