Some years ago I was seized with pain so severe I could no longer think coherently. I sought help of a Christian Science practitioner, and in about a week I was able to make the journey to a Christian Science House [nursing home]. Here, in less than three weeks, with loving nursing and ministration, I was able to work out my healing.

A practitioner, who was treating me through prayer, helped me to study when pain and discomfort inclined me to be apathetic. The trouble was internal.

I was greatly helped by this passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 150), "To-day the healing power of Truth is widely demonstrated as an immanent, eternal Science, instead of a phenomenal exhibition." The word "immanent" stood out. From the dictionary meaning I gained the thought of "indwelling." This was a tremendous help. I could see that the power of God was with me right where the pain claimed to be, and that that power is omnipotent.
