Christian Science is a way of life, and for over forty years I have...

Christian Science is a way of life, and for over forty years I have been the recipient of its manifold blessings. The way has not always been easy, but there were many helpful lessons. I have learned patience, perseverance, and the need to love more unselfishly.

One evening while returning home from my office, I was seized with pain in one side. A friend kindly helped me home and called a Christian Science practitioner. It was impossible for me to move without great discomfort. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 475), "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science." The thought came, "You have been declaring your absolute perfection as a child of God, and this perfection cannot change to imperfection. If you really know and understand this, why are you lying here? You should be up and doing what you normally do." With great difficulty I rose from the sofa and went about my evening activities. After slowly leaning over to draw some water, as I lifted myself up all pain disappeared. I was free and felt the presence of Love all around.

Another important healing in our family was that of my son when he was a teen-ager. He and a friend were working on a chemistry experiment and it exploded, badly burning his face. His sight was affected. As I was not at home, he contacted a practitioner. Through the effective scientific prayer of the practitioner the boy's sight in one eye was restored immediately, and the other eye was functioning normally the next morning. By the end of the week his face was completely healed, and the eyebrows and eyelashes, which were burned off, were restored.
