Calculating Rightly

If things seem to be turning out wrong and prospects for health and happiness appear to be beyond possible calculation, we can take a lesson from the computer. When an error appears in the programming, it is seldom due to the mechanism of the computer, but much more often to the faulty information it has been fed.

Human consciousness could be likened to a computer in that it sometimes takes in faulty information and calculates accordingly. What a screening is needed! How vital it is to fill this consciousness only with facts. Many indisputable facts are revealed through the study of Christian Science. They are basic spiritual facts of God and man—facts that continue to prove scientific and demonstrable and are relevant to today's experience and needs.

Divine Principle, God, governs man's entire existence, regulating it, controlling it according to the divine law of good. God is good. He is the only cause and originator. All that really exists emanates from and evidences this creative Mind. And since God is also Spirit, man, made in His image, must be spiritual. The oneness and allness of God forbid any interruption of or opposition to His control of man. There is no dualism; there cannot be both good and evil, happiness and unhappiness. Anything contrary to the goodness of God is false testimony and is without substance or power. It is not real. God is All, and there is none else. Therefore every thought should be carefully checked by these standards for its scientific and spiritual validity before we act on our data.
