ONE OF GOD'S GREATEST GIFTS

not only the recognized
joy of giving,
sharing, loving, living,
but also that pure
and honest joy
that floods the heart
upon awaking—
that joy that is there
for no visible
or invisible reason
but is simply there
because it belongs there—
and is there—
that joy that rushes up
and dazzles vision
with sunlight
on the darkest day—
that joy that truly is myself
my natural way
