I am grateful to be disciplining myself to write a testimony, for I have been healed, uplifted, and blessed innumerable times by spiritual ideas that others have shared in testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals.

I am reminded of a healing I had two years ago of an injured ankle. This injury was incurred when I was trying to dance an African ballet I had seen the night before. At the time I was thinking how well I could dance. All of a sudden I crumpled to the floor, and both my friend and I heard a couple of loud snaps. The pain was intense, but I was able to overcome it by my mental declaration that I was at one with God and had never been separate from Him. I later understood that I had always thought I could not dance, when in fact there never was a mortal "I" who could or could not do anything. There is only the expression of Soul, which does everything perfectly and beautifully as Soul's reflection.

The next day I could not walk at all. I worked and prayed all day and had treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. Late in the afternoon I wanted to read a Christian Science pamphlet that I had lent to a friend who lived in my apartment building. I called her, hoping she would offer to bring it to me. She didn't. I was asking myself just how I was going to get it when the response came with conviction, "I'll walk." And I got right up and walked, although with a limp. This first evidence of the healing showed me the importance of refuting the error and of acting in total contradiction to it to the degree possible.
