I am very grateful to be in this country and to share with the Sentinel's readers my gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, the Master, and for Mrs. Eddy for the precious teachings of Christian Science.
In April 1975 I was among those evacuated from South Vietnam to the United States. My family and I had to face all kinds of troubles due to the sudden evacuation: fear, hate, injustice, robberies, and disease. Other refugees left behind their families and all they owned. These things were very disturbing and sad to me.
However, as a student of Christian Science and a member of The Mother Church, I tried to stand firmly on all of the spiritual truths I had learned during the ten years since I first came to this religion. I often repeated these words from Mrs. Eddy's poem, "The Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, P. 4):
