It Takes Only One
How do I know that it takes only one to heal a discordant human situation? Because so often when I need a healing from some condition that obviously is contrary to God's law of good, I go to the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and find answers for myself and others. Sometimes the healings come quickly, and sometimes it takes faithful persistence. Countless others also tell of experiences they have had when through prayer they have had a glimpse of some truth of God and man and found that fear, disease, or some discordant human relationship faded from their experience. Healing didn't take an army knowing the truth; it took only one.
A glimpse of the Christ, Truth, by only one individual can offset in the experience of that individual what the whole world might hold as incurable or inevitable. Someone unfamiliar with Christian Science might ask what is meant by knowing the truth, and how this knowing, by only one, can bring about a physical healing.
Whether or not we understand it, the whole appearance of a material universe and a material man is a mental concept. Our work then, in situations where healing is needed, is to exchange in our own thought the discordant, material sense of things for the spiritual fact, which is the perpetually harmonious, spiritual truth of the very universe and man that we now are at least partly misconceiving as material. The change in consciousness corrects the mental picture and therefore the discordant physical condition as well.
