In 1965 I mentioned to some friends at work that I had a new husband, a new home, and my children had a new stepfather. I said we were going "church shopping" each Sunday to find a church that we all would agree would be just right for us. A friend said he knew of a Christian Science one not too far from where we lived. He said he knew we would love it. The next day he brought me two Sentinels to read before Sunday. I loved the Sentinels; every word in them made sense.

On Sunday my husband, our four-year-old son, thirteen-year-old daughter, and I went to our first Christian Science church service. The love we saw and felt in this church was expressed so sincerely by the members that we didn't shop anymore. We were thirsty and were given "a cup of cold water."

I had been having a problem with one of my knees. It made me unable to walk for short periods. I was working in the Protocol Office in a United States government agency. One day this happened at work, and my superior insisted I be taken to the dispensary. I was driven there, and an X ray was taken of my knee. The doctor said I had arthritis. He gave me medication, which I did not use. I went home.
