Lifting our thought above discordant conditions
The Way Out Is Up
We may sometimes be tempted to seek escape from discordant material conditions merely by a change of outward circumstances. But this only amounts to our exchanging one material belief for another, while remaining on the level of matter, or supposititious mortal consciousness.
Only the right understanding of God, divine Truth, and of man, Truth's spiritual likeness, can actually free us from discordant conditions. It does this by lifting our thought above matter, or false mentality, into the true consciousness of harmony and life in Spirit.
To seek escape from one set of material conditions merely by shifting to another is to start from the false premise that these conditions are realities we need to get away from or get rid of. But starting from the true basis in Science that all is infinite Spirit, or Mind, and its perfect expression, we actually free ourselves from discord by rising above the belief in it to the discernment of its spiritual opposite—the ever-presence of infinite harmony.
