Our Days of Ascending Thought

Jesus' light-filled victory over death is a continuing reason for rejoicing. This goes far beyond what is called Easter to include any day of the year. Our gratitude is for the unparalleled accomplishment of our Master, yes, but also for the encouragement we ourselves can gain from some understanding of his victory. Here is practical encouragement to support us should we feel bound in the grip of some gloomy experience.

While the disciples grieved over Jesus' crucifixion, what was going on in the tomb?

The experience of Christ Jesus in that dark time and place we cannot know, but we do know that life stirred there after the world had witnessed his death on the cross. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says, "The lonely precincts of the tomb gave Jesus a refuge from his foes, a place in which to solve the great problem of being." Further in the same paragraph she adds, "He met and mastered on the basis of Christian Science, the power of Mind over matter, all the claims of medicine, surgery, and hygiene." Science and Health, p. 44;
